WILD ATLANTIC RACE – PLAYTEST NO.3

For my playtest my two participants gave me feedback on my game to be improved further. In the feedback from my participants on the single-player mode they said that the race against time is a good concept however it needs more than just 14 turns to beat the game as it is practically impossible to beat it with just 14 turns so I am going to bump it up to 20 to see if that can improve the playstyle of the game.

They also liked the idea of the fact cards down that can be taken at each landmark. They did however say that there isn’t enough of the fact cards and I need to add a lot more in each section for the landmarks so I will be adding that too. I also need to add more tiles that will slow your progress to make the game more challenging so I will add additional flood tiles and breakdown tiles in the board game.

I was told that there should be pictures as well of the landmarks in the real world so people can get insight on what it really looks like. It makes the board look more your actually planning a trip of the wild Atlantic way on a map app such as google maps or something like that. So my options are to add cards that have images of the landmarks that will pair with the fact reading cards or I can have them drawn into the board on free space that’s available and not being used by a trail.

I was also told that if the game was to be for multi-player use that there should be options for opponents to slow each other down and not base it all off of chance while playing the game. So I might add additional landmark cards that’ll make you to take a shortcut and make your opponent take the longer route. Ill also implement some way of being able make your opponents vehicle break down and you will be in control of which landmark your opponent has to stop at.

Finally, I was told that on a portion of the map there should be a tile that start you at the very beginning at Cork so I will probably place that tile before the Aran islands and ill call the tile capsize where the boat you take to the aran islands sinks and you must go back to cork to get a new vehicle to start all over again. It doesn’t sound fair so I will also add a dice roll into it so if the opponent says 4 and the dice lands on 4 you don’t have to go back to Cork you just miss a turn.
